On March 4, 2025, pursuant to an Order of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, BDO Canada Limited was appointed as Receiver of the assets, undertakings, and property of Mahindra Jewellers Ltd., Surrey Gold Jewellers Ltd., 1237647 B.C. Ltd., 1257271 B.C. Ltd., Heera Jewellers Inc., P. Sona Jewellers Inc. and RCJ Jewellers Inc. (the “Companies”).

The Companies sold jewellery at retail locations in Surrey and Abbotsford. The Receiver has secured the inventory and completed a sales process for it.

On March 21, 2025, the Receiver assigned Mahindra Jewellers Ltd., Surrey Gold Jewellers Ltd., and P. Sona Jewellers Inc. into bankruptcy. The First Meeting of Creditors for each entity occurred on:

Mahindra Jewellers Ltd. on April 7, 2025 at 9:00am PST.
Surrey Gold Jewellers on April 7, 2025 at 9:30am PST.
P. Sona Jewellers on April 7, 2025 at 10:00am PST.

The Companies also owned two properties in Abbotsford. On June 11, 2025, the Receiver obtained Court approval for the sale of one of the properties to 1492741 B.C Ltd. A sales process is still underway for the remaining property, which is listed with Colliers.

The Receiver accepted an offer from Bonhams Canada (“Bonhams”) to auction select pieces of inventory. The Receiver also accepted an offer from Guardian International Gold Corp. (“Guardian”) to purchase the remainder of the inventory for the purposes of melting. On August 15, 2025, the Receiver made an application to Court to:

Approve the sale of the inventory;
Declare the inventory to be sold by Bonham’s Canada as property of the Companies;
Declare the third-party inventory as property of the Companies and approve its sale to Guardian International Gold Corp.; and
Approve an interim distribution to the first secured creditor.

On August 29, 2025, the Court granted the following orders:

An Order declaring certain property to be property of the Companies and authorizing the Receiver to engage Bonhams to auction certain property of the Companies (the “Auction Order”).
An Order declaring all remaining inventory the property of the Companies and authorizing the Receiver to complete the sale of the inventory to Guardian (the “Meltdown and Sale Order”).
Authorizing the Receiver to distribute available net proceeds from the sale of the property, in accordance with applicable priorities (the “Distribution Order”).

The Receiver accepted an offer for the purchase of the remaining property at 2548 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, B.C. (the “Clearbrook Property”) for a purchase price of $4,635,000. On February 20, 2026, the Receiver made an application to Court to approve the sale of the Clearbrook Property. The Court approved the sale on March 10, 2026.
