BDO Congratulates Government of Canada and CPA Canada on the IFRS Foundation award to establish an ISSB office in Montreal, Quebec

Toronto - BDO Canada is proud to be a founding member and part of the Canadian Champions for Global Sustainability Standards, led by the Government of Canada and CPA Canada, that came together to back Canada's offer to host the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). The selection of Montreal to host an office is a significant decision and one that showcases Canada's commitment to sustainability governance.

The new Board will develop a much-needed set of global standards for reporting on environmental, social and governance matters. The IFRS Foundation will be drawing on its experience gained as the provider of international financial reporting standards in more than 140 countries as it establishes the ISSB.

“This is an important achievement for Canada, and reflects the commitment the Government of Canada and the broader accounting and financial industries are making to ensure we are a global leader in sustainable best practices” said Pat Kramer, CEO BDO Canada. “Our participation as a coalition member and champion aligns with our efforts to support sustainability governance.”

By locating an office in Montreal, the ISSB can draw on Canada's extensive history of standard setting, innovation, and its deep and diverse talent pool.

From small businesses and family farms to enterprise-level corporations and Indigenous organizations, BDO Canada is committed to identify, implement, and integrate sustainability initiatives and ESG compliance in support of our clients from coast to coast to coast.
