Executive summary

Bernard Brault co-founded DeVeaux Brault & Associés (later to become DeVeaux Brault Munger & Associés) in 1990. He has provided services and advice in taxation and tax credit returns for research and development programs. Mr. Brault has carried out over 500 mandates involving file screening, claims, negotiation, objection and appeal relative to the Canadian and Quebec research and development tax programs.

Bernard is bilingual and has submitted claims for clients in both French and English.

Involved in taxation and research and development since 1985, Mr. Brault holds an undergraduate diploma in political sciences (public administration and accounting) and a specialized graduate diploma in administration (tax and accounting) (DSA). He also successfully completed most of the courses of the MBA program (HEC Montreal). Moreover, he has undertaken complementary studies in accounting and taxation (HEC Montreal), as well as in basic electronic and software engineering.

He is also a Fellow Chartered Administrator, member of the Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec (OAAQ) and Fellow member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (Certified Management Consultants). He was awarded various prizes and recognitions, such as the Award of Merit of the Quebec Interprofessional Council 1994 and the Médaille des gouverneurs (Governors' medal) awarded by the OAAQ in 1998.

In addition, he has authored the following books: Exercer la Saine Gestion and Le cadre de Saine Gestion, un modèle de gouvernance intégré. He has also published over 150 articles and he has lectured many training seminars on the following topics: SR&ED, Sound management and governance, and the scientific approach of Sound Management.

From 1989 to 2008, Mr. Brault was in charge of writing the Generally Accepted Principles of Sound Management (GAPSM) published as the Guide to Sound Management by the Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec (OAAQ). He is accredited by the OAAQ to conduct Sound Management Audits® that could be also used in SR&ED management.
