TORONTO, ON – BDO Canada LLP has appointed Giselle Bodkin as its new Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer (CIDO), effective April 1, 2021.

Giselle has been with BDO for over 25 years and an Assurance & Accounting partner for a decade. She has a legacy of being involved in fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace, beginning with her work as the Women Empowerment lead at BDO in 2020. With this appointment, Giselle will also assume the role as lead of the firm's National Inclusion and Diversity Council. She will work directly with Pat Kramer, CEO, Alicia DeFreitas, CHRO, and the Executive Leadership Team to continue to develop and advance BDO's Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) strategy.

“I am thrilled to take on this important role as the CIDO for BDO Canada,” says Giselle Bodkin, Accounting & Assurance Partner. “At BDO, we recognize that inclusion and diversity is a critical part of creating an equitable and supportive workplace. In addition to making us stronger by bringing together a team with diverse experiences and backgrounds, we want to ensure that our team reflects the diversity of the clients and communities we serve. I am passionate and committed to ensuring everyone feels empowered and supported at our firm.”

Giselle succeeds Patricia Gonsalves who held the role for the last three years. Patricia transformed BDO's I&D strategy and established the firm's National Inclusion and Diversity Council. Throughout her tenure, Patricia supported the evolution of the firm's I&D program, actively participating in BDO global initiatives, developing external partnerships, and working with internal stakeholders and the NIDAC to drive meaningful change for the firm.
