BDO partners receive respected FCPA designation

VANCOUVER – BDO Canada proudly announces that two partners have been awarded the prestigious Fellow (FCPA) title by the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC): Bruce Sprague, FCPA, FCA, CPA (Illinois), Western Canada Leader for Markets and Industry, and Mikaela Taylor, FCPA, FCA, Partner and Assurance-West Leader.

This esteemed designation recognizes Chartered Professional Accountants who have made exceptional contributions to the profession, achieved outstanding career milestones and have had positive impacts on their communities.

Since 2019, Bruce Sprague has led the tax practice in guiding clients to success during their most significant, often complex endeavours. During this time, he oversaw the acquisition of a major Saskatoon practice, expanding the firm's portfolio of sophisticated clients.

In addition to the impact he has made at BDO Canada, Bruce also plays an important role within his community. As a Board Director at the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, he leads enterprise risk management policy development and financial prudence for initiatives and investments, ensuring financial sustainability. He actively contributes to his community by volunteering in local sports and sharing his expertise at numerous industry and technical seminars.

Mikaela Taylor is an Accounting and Assurance Firm Technical Leader. Specializing in public companies, she is responsible for developing quality procedures and standards, ensuring firm-wide compliance, organizing training initiatives, assessing client requirements, monitoring performance and assisting BDO teams globally.

In her community, Mikaela makes a significant impact as the board treasurer of Westcoast Family Centres Society, enhancing its program delivery to children, youth and families. Her leadership has also extended to roles as Treasurer for the Aerospace Industry Association of B.C., and as a member of the Life Sciences B.C. Finance Committee and the Aerospace Industry Association of Canada's Pacific Committee.
