Our M&A and Capital Markets team is proud to have successfully advised on 34 deals across Canada in 2023. These concluded transactions spanned diverse industries, such as technology, healthcare, retail and consumer, and manufacturing and distribution. Our team continued to showcase its commitment to excellence in navigating dynamic market conditions and contributing positively to our clients' success.

Looking ahead this year, Michael Morrow, Managing Director, M&A and Capital Markets at BDO Canada, expects pent-up dealmaking to rebound in the back half of 2024 as the economy improves, with potential interest rate cuts and improving inflation figures. After a slow first quarter, he expects mergers to go up as much as 40% compared to the previous year. He said, “There's a strong backlog of businesses in Canada that need to transition, and a lot of business owners have been holding off. Some clients who have been holding off are now making plans to sell their business in 2024.”
