Matthew Westphalen joins BDO Canada as Partner, BSO

Toronto, ON – BDO Canada is pleased to welcome its newest partner, Matthew Westphalen. Matthew joins the firm's Financial Reporting & Insights practice, part of our Business Services & Outsourcing (BSO) service line.

Previously a partner with a mid-size accounting firm, Matthew has more than two decades of business accounting and consulting experience, working primarily with small- and medium-sized businesses. He brings a deep background in audit, financial reporting, and internal controls to BDO.

Matthew has supported clients in a wide variety of industries, including construction, real estate, retail, mining, professional services, non-profit, and information technology. He has extensive experience with financial audits, income tax planning and compliance, business accounting and consulting, reporting and internal control advice.

Matthew has a Diploma in Accounting Science from the Université du Québec en Outaouais (2004) and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Science from the Université du Québec en Outaouais (2003). In addition to his professional commitments, Matthew has contributed to his community as a hockey coach and a board member for Open Doors for Lanark County Children & Youth.

Matthew joined BDO on September 15, 2025 and is based in the firm's Ottawa office.
