Vancouver, BC — BDO Canada is pleased to announce that Matthew V. Hartney, CPA, has joined the firm as a Partner in its Assurance practice.
Based in Victoria BC, Matthew brings nearly 20 years of experience serving government and public sector (GPS) organizations across Canada, with a focus on financial transformation, public reporting, and strengthening decision making.
Matthew has worked with governments at all four levels - First Nations, federal, provincial, and municipal – supporting complex financial environments and transformations. His experience spans assurance, advisory, and senior leadership roles within government, providing an integrated, practical perspective on public sector finance.
At BDO, Matthew will support the firm’s national GPS platform while helping lead and grow a dedicated Western Canada team focused on British Columbia’s public sector and First Nations governments.
Matthew holds an MBA from the Royal Military College of Canada and a BA with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan.
