Nicole Barrington, CPA, CA

Executive summary

Nicole is a Partner and the National Director of Independence for BDO Canada based out of the Toronto, Ontario, office. She oversees the firm’s compliance with professional and regulatory requirements regarding independence, conflicts and ethics matters. In this role, she serves as a liaison with professional regulators regarding independence guidance and standards. 

Nicole is also BDO Canada’s Partner representative on the BDO Global Ethics and Independence Steering Committee. In this role, she advises on, contributes to and influences BDO Global risk and ethics initiatives.

Prior to joining BDO, Nicole spent 17 years at another large professional services firm with 10 years in the audit practice focusing on financial institutions (including insurance and private equity) and subsequently served as the Professional Independence Leader as part of the Regulatory, Quality, Risk and Reputation department.
