Executive summary
Lalli Deol is a tax lawyer in the Tax Controversy & Dispute Resolution group at BDO Law. He represents clients in resolving disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial tax authorities, assisting at all stages—from audits and objections to appeals before the Courts. In addition, Lalli assists with voluntary disclosures and taxpayer relief applications.
Lalli began his legal career in the private sector, gaining valuable experience in real estate, corporate law, and estate planning—areas that often intersect with complex tax considerations. His primary experience, however, comes from his time at the Department of Justice (Tax Law Services), where he represented the CRA in a broad range of tax disputes. During his tenure, he appeared before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court, and the Federal Court of Appeal.
Originally from Denmark, Lalli moved to Canada during university and later earned his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of British Columbia. He is currently enrolled in the CPA In-Depth Tax Program to stay at the forefront of tax law developments. Lalli is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation's Youth Steering Committee and regularly presents and contributes to the broader legal and tax community.
Outside of work, Lalli enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, skiing and golfing. He is also an avid soccer player and is a member of the BC lawyers' team, The Mundiavocat.
Lalli is based in BDO's Vancouver and Langley offices.
