BDO helps clients succeed in a human-led, AI embedded world – turning trust and care into outcomes

Toronto, ON — BDO Canada today announced the launch of AI Vision 2030, a commitment to embed artificial intelligence into how the firm operates and how it serves clients. It positions AI as core infrastructure—guided by human oversight, professional judgment, and strong governance—so BDO’s people and clients can succeed in an increasingly AI-embedded world.

AI Vision 2030 strengthens BDO Canada’s investments across talent, governance, partnerships, and leadership around AI, while also reinforcing BDO’s role as the partner of choice, working alongside clients to solve complex problems.

"The advantage will go to organizations that leverage AI with clarity, discipline, and accountability,” said Bill Syrros, National AI Leader, BDO Canada. “Done well, AI expands capacity, allows people to focus on relationships and elevates judgment - it doesn't replace it. A human-led, AI embedded approach is what turns AI into a catalyst and operating model for better decisions and stronger business performance."

Powering a stronger, more resilient and productive Canadian economy

Canada’s productivity gap is real. Labour productivity has trailed the United States for decades, and the pressure to modernize is growing. Canadian organizations are also navigating geopolitical complexity, tariff-related uncertainty, and higher expectations for data sovereignty, governance, and compliance.

BDO Canada views AI, particularly agentic AI, as a practical driver of enterprise value. The opportunity is structured enterprise adoption that increases capacity, expedites decision-making, reduces risk, and scales value safely.

“At BDO, we operate as our clients’ practical, trusted advisor,” said Ahmad Ovais, Partner, BDO Canada. “We help clients move from fragmented experimentation to enterprise impact—clarifying where and how to start, defining value tied to outcomes and industry context, building trust through governance, adoption, and security, and scaling by operationalizing what works—so they can move fast and safely.”

Leading by example: BDO Canada’s story

BDO Canada is its own case study of people-centred responsible and disciplined execution. The firm has embedded AI across key areas of its operations while expanding programs to drive AI upskilling, staff empowerment, and business outcomes.

As an early adopter and “Client Zero” of AI, BDO Canada has seen notable early results:

  • 80 percent of structured AI bootcamp participants advanced to intermediate or higher proficiency
  • More than 1,200 employees contributing to AI-driven process improvements, with 40 percent moving into active implementation
  • Firm-wide AI policies and governance controls supporting responsible use, confidentiality, and compliance

“We are not deploying AI as a side initiative,” said Syrros. “We are deliberately elevating our people with proper training and tooling, while redesigning how work gets done. We need to be credible when we sit across from a client, that is the standard we are hold ourselves to.”
