Toronto, ON — Today, BDO Canada, a leading provider of professional services, released its Annual Sustainability Report: Transforming commitments into actions.
The report highlights the firm's ongoing dedication to driving meaningful impact for its people, clients, and communities through an integrated approach to environmental responsibility, social commitment, and robust governance.

Environmental action
- The firm formally registered its emissions reduction commitment with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Alongside over 10,000 organizations globally, BDO Canada is now on the journey to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
- In 2024, the firm also improved the data quality used for its greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint monitoring, which enabled the firm to recalculate its baseline for more accurate reporting.
Social commitment
- BDO Canada was recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 employers in 2024.
- The firm raised over $300,000 through its Drive Away Hunger initiative, donating the equivalent of 20,000 lbs. of food to those in need.
- In 2024, BDO supported 10 students through the Indigenous Student Bursary, in collaboration with Indspire's Building Brighter Futures program.
- In partnership with Pride at Work Canada, the firm promoted 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion in the workplace.
Governance
- As of December 31, 2024, BDO Canada's Board consisted of 10 members, including nine partners who were elected by partners, and one independent member appointed by the Board.
- The Board delegates certain of its work to four sub-committees to address critical organizational functions necessary to support it in its mandate, including: Financial Oversight Committee, Governance & Risk Committee, Talent & Culture Committee, and the Strategy & Execution Committee.
- BDO continues to strengthen the board-level oversight across various initiatives, enhance data privacy and compliance measures across the firm, while underpinning with a robust risk management program, targeted risk policies, training programs and established operational procedures.
