Dave Simkins, CPA, CA, served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for BDO Canada for 10 years, guiding the firm through modernization, operational strengthening, and periods of significant growth.
For over 25 years, Dave has worked with Canadian and international clients providing insight and advice to grow their businesses. Prior to becoming COO in 2016, he held various leadership roles at BDO, both at a national and international level. He was the leader of the Canadian Advisory Services Practice, growing the practice from 10 to 25 percent of firm revenues over his tenure. Dave also served on the BDO Global Advisory Board developing strategy and shaping the direction of the firm internationally. In 2004, he started the BDO Solutions business, a group that has become the dominant Microsoft Dynamics business in Canada.
Dave graduated from the Bachelor of Science Computing Services program, with honours, from the University of Guelph and earned his accounting designation at Wilfrid Laurier University. He is active in the community as a coach and leader with many non-profits, charities, and professional organizations. Outside the office, Dave enjoys recreational golf, hockey, and fishing.
