At BDO Canada, we’re taking ReconciliACTION. As a proud Mohawk woman, BDO’s commitment towards truth and reconciliation holds deep personal significance for me. It represents a commitment to honouring my heritage, fostering understanding, and building bridges between cultures.
BDO’s commitment took formal shape in 2019 and since then, we’ve developed a strategic approach to our path to reconciliation and established an internal steering committee. This committee is guided by meaningful dialogue and contributions from the firm’s Indigenous employees, partners, and senior leaders. As a result, we’ve collaborated with Indspire, a national Indigenous registered charity, to help invest in the education of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. We’ve engaged Design de Plume, an Indigenous and women-owned agency, to develop culturally responsive designs that reflect our values and amplify Indigenous narratives. And recently, BDO’s Senior Leadership Team participated in Indigenous cultural awareness training to further our commitment.
On September 30, we honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by providing a firm-wide closure for employees to observe and participate in educational and commemorative events across Canada. BDO’s understanding of truth, reconciliation, and Indigenous perspectives is consistently evolving as we actively listen and learn from the Indigenous community.
I am BDO Proud.
