Vadim is a director in BDO's Toronto office, with more than 25 years of experience providing financial advisory services to senior financial executives, management, and boards or directors.
Vadim has worked with a wide range of clients in the financial industry, including banks, credit unions, insurance companies, pension and benefit plans, endowments, and asset managers—focusing on all aspects of financial risk management.
Vadim's industry experience includes leading the investment risk team at the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)—where he worked for 13 years—as well as constructing and managing tactical asset allocation and absolute return portfolios. He was also responsible for the pension fund's statement of investment policies and procedures and the development of the fund's investment risk appetite statement.
Vadim's sell-side experience includes trading floor systems, risk, and capital markets at Scotia Capital in Toronto, where he worked for nearly 10 years.
Vadim also has international experience and worked in emerging markets. At Citigroup, he led the banking operations though a dramatic growth in transaction volumes and shifting geopolitical and regulatory regimes.
Vadim is involved in the community through CFA Society Toronto, most recently serving two terms as the chairman of the board. He has presented at seminars on risk management, investment strategies, stress testing, and hedging programs. Vadim has been a member of the Institutional Society of Risk Professionals and the Pension Investment Association of Canada, where he recently served as Toronto regional council chair.
