Executive Summary

With over 30 years of Canadian and international assurance & advisory experience, John leads BDO’s Alberta Manufacturing and Distribution and Aboriginal industry teams. He has a proven track record of high quality service to large and mid-size publicly traded and privately held companies as well as public sector organizations. John also has broad industry experience working with retailers, manufacturers, credit unions, municipalities, not-for-profit and Aboriginal organizations. 

John specializes in financial statement audits and reviews in accordance with IFRS, ASPE, PSAS and Canadian not-for-profit accounting standards. He also has considerable experience with complex business transactions from mergers & acquisitions, start-ups or expansions, divestitures, privatization, IPOs, business restructurings, financings and family succession planning.

John has served as an expert on litigation and arbitration support engagements typically working closely with the client and their representative law firm. He has broad assurance experience allowing him to adapt to many different engagements across various industries. His experience includes preparing expert reports and providing expert witness testimony.

John spent four years in the emerging Warsaw, Poland economy where he helped open a new professional services office for a large international assurance and advisory firm.
