Executive summary

Duncan is a Partner in BDO's Waterloo office and has been specializing in providing accounting, tax, financial and practice management advice to health practitioners for the last 10 years. He has advised on incorporation, corporate reorganizations, dental practice purchase due diligence and dental practice sales over this time. He is one of only a handful of accountants who has a Certificate of Dental Practice Management from University of Toronto.

Duncan has over 30 years of varied experience in the accounting field. After working with Coopers & Lybrand in Scotland for six years, he decided to migrate to London, Ontario and remained with Coopers in their audit and assurance group until that firm's merger with Price Waterhouse, at which time he moved into a process review and risk management consulting role with large international accounting firm, PwC.

In 2001, Duncan left PwC to become Chief Financial Officer of a Design/Manufacturing company in London, Ontario, returning to a role in public accounting, advising mainly small and medium sized businesses, in 2008.

Duncan joined NPT LLP in 2011 and has remained focused on his healthcare group leadership role ever since, through NPT's merger with BDO Canada in July 2015. His goal is to help young healthcare professionals find their way in the world of business, accounting and tax planning.
