Executive Summary

David is BDO’s Government Incentives leader in the Greater Toronto Area, with over 25 years of professional experience. His current consulting activities are directed towards assisting clients in maximizing the funding opportunities available through government grant and incentive programs. 

David has well-developed knowledge of the Canadian SR&ED environment and extensive experience in managing claims in a number of industry verticals. As a tax practitioner, David has worked with a number of private owner-managed businesses to maximize the benefits from the SR&ED incentive program through tax planning strategies. 

David has significant experience working with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) resolving complex SR&ED tax issues and is a member of the CPA Canada SR&ED Advisory Committee. He is a frequent speaker and writer on the SR&ED program, and regularly conducts SR&ED workshops to his clients providing them with current and relevant information regarding the program. He is also a regular presenter at the CPA SR&ED Advisory Symposium and at the Canadian Tax Foundation. He is also a contributing author to Taxation of Private Corporations and Their Shareholders (Fourth Edition).

In addition, David has a broad range of financial advisory experience in the corporate sector, which includes restructuring advisory services, litigation support, business valuations, mergers and acquisitions, and financial due diligence.

David is involved in the community through various charities and most recently as Vice Chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada.
