Recent merger positions BDO Canada’s SR&ED practice as one of the largest in Canada

April 09, 2014

SURREY: BDO Canada LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) practice in Western Canada through a recent merger with Incentive Access Group (IAG) Corporation of Surrey, British Columbia effective March 1, 2014.

BDO believes the most valuable assets in business today are people and ideas – in particular, people with ideas. This is why we are committed to helping our clients benefit from the Canadian SR&ED program, which rewards innovative businesses with some of the most generous incentives in the world. As the largest independent SR&ED consulting firm in Western Canada, IAG contributes a wealth of knowledge and opportunity to BDO that will greatly benefit the clients and staff of both practices.

IAG was established in 2000 to help businesses accelerate their time to market in an increasingly competitive global economy by gaining substantial rebates on every dollar spent towards research. The corporation’s personalized service and specialized expertise quickly led to its establishment as a recognized leader in the SR&ED community. IAG has allowed companies to focus on their strengths - bringing products to market through innovative thinking - by assisting them to submit successful claims and significantly improve bottom-line results.

“When it came to deciding the future of IAG, we explored many opportunities and saw BDO as a great home for our people and clients,” stated Tom Miszczak of IAG. “Both firms are highly regarded for their broad range of industry expertise and emphasis on relationships with our people, clients and communities.”

BDO has over 90 years of experience providing value-added assurance, accounting, tax and advisory services to a broad range of clients across the country. With more than 100 offices from Vancouver to St. John’s, BDO is one of the leading accounting and advisory firms in Canada with our strengths firmly rooted in the communities we serve.

“IAG brings with it a talented group of professionals in taxation, accounting, science and engineering who offer personalized service, custom-tailored to their client’s needs and long-term goals,” stated Mike McCreight of BDO. “This is why we saw IAG as a great fit for the firm, with exceptional client service as the foundation of our being a trusted advisor.”

BDO’s SR&ED practice is now one of the largest in the Canadian market. IAG will operate under the BDO name at its current location in Surrey, continuing to offer clients the personalized service of a local office but with the expanded resources of a national firm.
