On April 6, 2017, the Honourable Cathy Bennett, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, tabled her second budget. With the stabilization of oil prices, the theme of this year’s budget was to stay the course after the wide array of changes that were announced last year.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Deficit of $1.08 billion projected for 2016-17
- Deficit of $778 million projected for 2017-18
- No new taxes or tax increases
- Gas tax to be reduced
- Books to be balanced by 2021-22
