“Budget 2015-2016”

On April 9, 2015, the Honourable Diana Whalen presented her second budget as Nova Scotia’s Finance and Treasury Board Minister. This year’s budget shows that the government continues to favour a long-term approach over short-term solutions in order to move the province out of its current deficit position.

The deficit reported for 2014-15 is $102 million which is lower than the deficit of
$279 million that was forecast last year. The government is forecasting a deficit of
$98 million for 2015-16. A balanced budget is predicted for 2016-17.

Highlights

  • Deficit of $102 million projected for 2014-15 fiscal year
  • Deficit of $98 million forecast for 2015-16 fiscal year
