THE BUILDING ALBERTA PLAN: BUDGET 2014

On March 6, 2014, the Honourable Doug Horner, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, presented his second budget. As became apparent when third quarter results were released in February, the results for the 2013-14 fiscal year are much better than first expected due primarily to higher than expected resource revenue and federal government transfers.

The budget papers show an operational surplus of $1.4 billion for 2013-14 and $2.6 billion for 2014-15. When cash adjustments are factored in, the surplus becomes $1.1 billion for both years.
