2017 Telecommunications Risk Factor Survey

Canadian telecommunications leaders know the challenges that regulatory constraints present for their business.
New research from BDO demonstrates that Canadian concerns are shared worldwide. The 2017 edition of our annual Telecommunications Risk Factor Survey reports that the number of telecoms giants concerned with regulatory constraints has almost doubled, from 42% to 80% in one year.
The survey, which investigated the experiences of about 60 of the largest fixed-line and mobile telecoms providers, found consistent themes across 18 different global markets.
Five major risk areas were identified:
- The digital transformation agenda
- The regulatory burden
- The growth of cyber warfare
- The volatile macroeconomic and political environment
- The infrastructure investment challenge
