Automotive Supplier Competitiveness Improvement Program (ASCIP)

November 03, 2016

Developed through a partnership between the Automotive Parts Manufacturer's Association (APMA), the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), and the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Growth, ASCIP supports automotive suppliers in becoming more competitive by providing up to $100,000 in project funding.

Companies within the auto parts sector can use ASCIP to help offset the cost of adopting advanced hardware and/or software as well as training.

Eligibility

Small to medium-sized automotive suppliers are given priority; however larger automotive suppliers partnering with small to medium-sized suppliers are also eligible.

Two eligible project streams:

  • Technology Adoption—Eligible projects must focus on advancing product life cycle management and improving competitiveness through the adoption of advanced hardware, software and/or training. Reimbursements of up to 50% or $100,000 per project are available – whichever is lower. Implementation of advanced technologies (including ERP systems) can be incorporated as part of the overall project.
  • Mentorship—For small and medium-sized parts suppliers seeking to improve operational efficiency and competitiveness. Mentors will be automotive industry experts with in-depth knowledge of manufacturing process efficiency and will assist suppliers with specific business development needs. Mentor services qualify for up to five projects.
