Ontario Autism Program: Changes for 2019 and onward
June 21, 2019

In February 2019, the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services announced changes to the Ontario Autism Program's (OAP) funding model. As of April 1, 2019, families of children with autism will begin to receive Childhood Budgets to purchase services from providers. These include:
- Assessments and consultations
- Speech language pathology
- Occupational therapy and physiotherapy
- Family/caregiver capacity building and training
- Respite services
- Technology aids
- Support for travel efforts
What does this mean for your business?
These changes are presenting challenges that businesses now need to accommodate and require organizations to either implement new or refresh existing approaches to delivering autism support services. Being flexible in responding to market changes is key for organizations to stay competitive while maintaining their clinical delivery frameworks.
