My money was supposed to be held in Trust. When will I get this back?

All bank accounts were taken into the control of the volunteer Board of Directors in June. BDO has seized all funds. BDO will be reviewing the records to determine the accounts for each family. We are not sure what money exists in trust at this time. It will require time to conclude who is entitled to any money. A report will be provided.

Can I get my file or have it transferred to another agency?

BDO is talking with the Ministry of legal counsel to identify who should hold the files. BDO has taken possession of the files and will be releasing them as quickly as possible once direction and approval is received. All information continues to be held confidentially. The possibility of transfers to another agency is being reviewed also.

What is the status of the Employees on Image Adoption?

BDO Dunwoody Ltd. as Trustee in Bankruptcy of Kids Link is responsible for all operating decision commencing July 13, 2009. All employees were terminated at the date of bankruptcy. The staff necessary to assist BDO with the administration will be contacted. One person is currently assisting BDO. The Executive Director, Susan Hawhow, and Andrew Morrow traveled to Africa on July 12 on their own accord. They have been providing information to BDO regarding children, status of paperwork and the transition home. See "Representation in Ethiopia" memo under General Information tab.

What happened to money paid to Kids Link in the past few months?

At July 14th when BDO became the Trustee in Bankruptcy, there were payments held at the Kids Link offices. The Board of Directors in late May had instructed the staff to hold new payments given uncertainty of future service.

BDO reviewed payments. Any that were for a new adoption file and no work had been completed by Imagine Adoption have been returned to the families. These are being mailed during the week of July 20, 2009. There were 25 families in this situation.

Do I have to attend the Creditor Meeting?

No. Please see further comments under the General Information tab - labeled Creditor Meeting.

If I contact and adopt from another agency, will I be excluded from getting any share of Imagine Adoption bankruptcy monies?

No. You can still file a proof of claim with BDO for money lost with Imagine Adoption.
