Remembering BDO Partner John Keserich

It is with great sadness that we inform of the passing of our friend and colleague John Keserich. After facing a long battle with cancer, he died peacefully on Nov. 6, 2021 with his family by his side. Our sincere condolences go out to John's family during this difficult time.

“John represented the best qualities of a partner, mentor, and teammate,” said Daphna Smuckler, Manager Partner, Assurance & Accounting, BDO Canada. “He will be greatly missed by his colleagues across Canada.”

John was a Partner in BDO's Vancouver office. He joined the Firm in 2011 and became leader of the Technology & Life Sciences group. John was also an active member of Acetech and a board member of the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association.

John embodied client-centricity; he worked with companies all over the world, understanding their needs and helping them resolve complex issues. He was an active force in developing his team and preparing them for Partnership and he often coached less tenured Partners when they faced client challenges. Those who worked closely with John know how much pride he took in his profession. His infectious enthusiasm for servicing his clients and seeing his team succeed will truly be missed.

“More than anyone I know, John embodied ‘joie de vivre'. He loved life, he loved the profession, and he loved BDO. He was the consummate teammate and cared deeply for his people and team,” shared Michael Madsen, Office Managing Partner, BDO Vancouver. “Together with my colleagues in the Greater Vancouver Area, we remember John and the indelible legacy he left at the Firm.”

Donations in John's memory may be given to Myeloma Canada.
