TORONTO: BDO Dunwoody LLP has established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba, with an initial gift of $27,000 in 2009. The fund will be used to offer a prize for accounting students enrolled in the I.H. Asper School of Business.

“BDO recognizes graduates of the I.H. Asper School of Business as some of the most qualified members of the industry,” said Keith Farlinger, CEO of BDO Dunwoody LLP. “With this fund we are supporting future accountants and promoting excellence in Canadian accounting programs.”

“By endowing this fund, BDO has provided a great service to the school and to the province,” said Glenn Feltham, CA Manitoba Chair in Business Leadership, and Dean of I.H. Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba. Programs like this play a central role in building a better Manitoba.”

The selection committee will be named by Dean Feltham and will include the course coordinator for Intermediate Accounting – Equities. The fund will become available for those students wishing to apply for the 2010-2011 term.
