BDO Dunwoody LLP announces Keith Farlinger as new CEO

TORONTO: BDO Dunwoody LLP is pleased to announce Keith Farlinger as the firm’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 18, 2008.
Prior to his role as CEO, Farlinger served BDO as Regional Managing Partner for the Toronto region. He has over 35 years of experience providing auditing, business planning and financial consulting services and holds leadership positions in the accounting industry and with a number of business associations. He currently serves on the firm's Management Team and has been on the firm's Policy Board serving as Chair in 1997/1998.
“It’s a very exciting time to be moving into the CEO role at BDO,” states Farlinger. “I’m coming into it at a time when both our Canadian firm and our international organization have ambitious new strategic plans. I’m looking forward to working with our partners to implement these plans -- and to getting the word out about BDO’s abilities to service the needs of clients.”
Keith was the Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO) from 2006 to 2008 and has been a member of the governing council since 2001. He was previously a member of the ICAO Bylaws Review Committee and Bylaws Working Group, and Chair of the ICAO Doctoral Studies Committee, Education Program Administration, and Examination Committee. He is also actively involved in his alma mater, the University of Waterloo, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics in 1977. He was the founding President of the Waterloo Accounting Alumni Association (Toronto Chapter) and is currently a member of the Capital Campaign Committee of the School of Accountancy. Keith received his CA designation in 1978 and his FCA in 1997.
Farlinger’s tenure as CEO will come into effect on September 18, 2008. He succeeds out-going CEO Gilles Chaput, a 37-year veteran of the firm.
