Current Events
The world financial crisis has shown the Canadian banking system has held up well and the prudent decisions of bank and credit union managers are showing payback now. Certainly there have been some losses - but not nearly to the degree elsewhere in the world. Bank losses have also led to significant decreases in bank market capitalization as is shown dramatically in the graphic to the right.
