As a partner with BDO Dunwoody, Margaret McFarlane’s professional practice focuses on business and securities valuation, damages quantification and litigation support, investigative and forensic accounting, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, business plans and operational reviews, and financial consulting. Margaret is located in our Vancouver, British Columbia office.
Ms. McFarlane earned her CBV in 1996 and was awarded the silver medal on the national Chartered Business Valuator exam. She has attained the CA IFA designation reserved for specialists CAs in Investigative and Forensic Accounting.
Ms. McFarlane has qualified as an expert witness and has given testimony in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. She has also conducted a private arbitration and rendered a decision pursuant to the Commercial Arbitration Act of British Columbia.
Ms. McFarlane has made a number of presentations and has written articles on valuation and other topics for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC, Continuing Legal Education, universities, and professional firms and organizations.
Ms. McFarlane is a member of the Board of Governors of the British Columbia Institute of Technology, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (“ICABC”) Rulings Committee, and sits on the Executive of Collaborative Divorce Vancouver. She is the past Vice-Chair of the Professional Conduct Enquiry Committee of the ICABC. She is the past Chair of the national CICBV/CICA Liaison Committee that provides oversight and direction between the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
