Thomas C. Ambeault has practiced in the Financial Advisory Services Group as a Partner since 1993 and prior to that Thom was with BDO Dunwoody LLP and its predecessors since January 1981. Thom has practiced in Northern Ontario with assignments consisting of management consulting engagements including business plans; feasibility studies valuations for acquisition and divestiture, estate planning, shareholder disputes and for a variety of other purposes.
In his 10 years in this practice area Thom has created a market place in Sault Ste Marie for these services while maintaining an assurance practice. The assurance practice services pharmacies, aboriginal organizations including First Nation governments, municipalities, social services agencies and entrepreneurs.
The variety of clients including contractors, software developers, equipment rentals, nursing home operators, grocery stores, lumber mills, plywood mills and 30 years experience provides Thom with the knowledge and practical skills to enter practical negotiations to assist with a purchase or sale of business.
His business valuation experience in the pharmacies, sand and gravel operations, lumber mills and many other industries has provided Thom with the opportunity to work with many large national companies in Canada, such as Shoppers, The Katz Group, Domtar and Lafarge who are either looking to purchase companies that are owned by the owner manager entrepreneur or the entrepreneur perceives that the large national company is the special purchaser.
As an advisor to the Management Consulting practice, Thom has worked closely with the management consultants in preparation of business plans, feasibility studies, Aboriginal Business Canada financial assistance and strategic planning. In addition Thom has carried out numerous due diligence assignments, litigation support for contract disputes, quantification of losses, valuations for shareholder disputes and marital breakdown.
