CA Reciprocity Examination (CARE)

As a member of the international BDO network, we often meet individuals from around the world who are interested in working with us in Canada.

Some candidates do not have the professional accounting designation (CA) that is recognized in Canada. In these cases, we work directly with the provincial governing body or institution/association to complete an assessment of the candidate’s credentials to determine if they are qualified to write the CA Reciprocity Examination (CARE).

A candidate who receives a positive assessment is exempt from some pre-requisites and can write the reciprocity exam or the equivalent. Most of the team members we have hired internationally complete this process . For more information about CARE, check out the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ website.

What kind of training does BDO have for employees? How does the Professional Development process work?

At BDO, as with the entire accounting and consulting profession, there is a significant commitment to training. It is a major part of the culture. Specific training depends on your needs, and may be offered within the firm or through an outside training organization. We want to be sure that you are appropriately trained to do your job, so we support training programs that increase your job skills and enhance your career development.
