BDO Canada LLP and Newton & Co. announce merger

OTTAWA: BDO is pleased to announce its merger with Newton & Co., a professional services firm with offices in Ottawa and Manotick, effective October 1. The combined practice will operate under the BDO name.
This merger will increase the size of BDO’s Ottawa group of offices to 15 partners, one associate, 21 senior managers and managers, and 73 staff operating from locations in Ottawa, Rockland, Manotick, Embrun, Alexandria, Alfred and Cornwall. This group offers a wide variety of services, including audit and assurance, taxation, financial and risk advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and valuation services.

The merger with Newton & Co. closely follows the addition of partners Suzanne Villeneuve and Mario Brisebois to BDO’s Ottawa office on September 20. It also marks BDO’s fifth merger in Ontario in just over a year. The firm merged with MDKS in Waterloo in July 2009, with both Robinson & Co. in Guelph and Hutson Demers LLP in Chatham in January 2010 and, most recently, with Nadler and Company in Toronto in August 2010. Each merger has contributed to increased service offerings and resources for BDO clients.
