Court appoints BDO Canada Limited as Receiver over Talisman Resort

BDO Canada Limited was appointed Receiver over the assets and operations of Talisman Resort Limited Partnership and some of its related entities (“Talisman”) by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on October 20, 2011.
Located in Kimberly, Ontario, Talisman had been operating since 1963 as a well known ski facility and resort. Its assets include ski facilities, a conference centre, nine-hole golf course and undeveloped land. Operations ceased in March 2011 for various reasons, including financial difficulties and the inability to arrange needed funding. The assets are now under the possession and control of the Receiver.
It is the Receiver’s intention to conduct a court-approved sales process aimed at identifying suitable purchasers for the assets and operations. Access to view the premises will be granted with the prior consent of the Receiver and individuals must be accompanied by one of its representatives.
