Habitat for Humanity
Volunteers from our Winnipeg office were happy to participate in a Habitat for Humanity build on July 23. The BDO team of ten had a great experience working on the roof, siding and windows alongside the homeowner, Chris ― who was very grateful for the help from Habitat and our firm. James Doer, Pamela Dupuis, Tim Cook, Cedric Paquin, Darrell Girardin, Carly Zelinsky, Melissa Bjarnarson, Wang Cheng, Mahmoud Kessi and James Blase partook in the ‘Blitz Build’ with over 100 other volunteers, working on about nine homes.
As an admirer of the way Habitat for Humanity has structured itself, its mission, and many innovative practices, BDO gladly accepted when the organization recently asked us to become a corporate sponsor. Habitat shared a connection with our firm back in March, when it was named one of the 2010 finalists in the non-profit category at the Spirit of Winnipeg Awards, which were co-founded by BDO.
