Langley partner Paul Coltura led his team, Cool Running, to success in the BC Cancer Relay for Life. This community event recognizes individuals who have survived cancer, as well as honouring those who have lost their life to the disease. The team raised an impressive $13,400 and overall the community event raised $354,000.
BDO’s Salmon Arm office took part in the 2007 Relay for Life, raising a team record of just over $3000 for the fight against cancer. The BDO team consisted of Cory Neil, Rick Hirtle, Jeff Johnson, Jodi Kooistra, Linda King, Cathy Hodgson along with their spouses and other family members. BDO managed to keep one team member on the track for the entire 12 hours, 7pm to 7am, showing real team spirit! Overall the entire community worked together to raise a record $180,000.
BDO Grande Prairie once again participated in the 2007 Relay for Life as volunteers to collect funds from the participating teams as they registered and checked in. BDO’s own Quinn Anderson was the finance/accounting coordinator on the steering committee for the event. The entire staff volunteered and spent the e
vening taking the cash, organizing and placing it in bank bags and taking care of money until it was taken to the bank around midnight. The staff tallied amount of funds raised by each person and team and gave out prizes in recognition of dollars raised. This year BDO registered 115 teams, handed out 1,239 t-shirts to the participants, directed the teams to their camping spots and proudly tallied up a total of $431,000 that was raised!
For the second year in a row the Kincardine office participated in their local Relay for Life. While not handing out Beadcounters to all the participants, they were showing off their curves and having a great time fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society. Through their efforts (and strategic placement of the BDO tattoos) these “Beachin’Bookkeepers” won best dressed at the Relay!
